iLearnabout Takes Climate Education Beyond Africa

From Africa to Pakistan, iLearnabout’s free environmental education resources are helping schools bring climate change to life.

iLearnabout is delighted to be sharing its free digital learning resources with Central Model School Khanewal in South Punjab, Pakistan, demonstrating how environmental e-learning developed with African classrooms and communities in mind can also support learning in other parts of the world.

Although iLearnabout’s resources are Africa-focused, the school recognised their potential to help address a shortage of accessible conservation and environmental education materials in its own community.

Using iLearnabout’s climate change modules, the school has organised a week-long series of morning assemblies to help students explore the causes and effects of climate change and consider how individual actions can make a difference. Students have created climate awareness posters, shared their ideas and reflected on how they can help protect the planet.

The initiative is particularly relevant for a school serving a resource-constrained community where families face significant economic and environmental challenges, including flooding, severe storms and increasingly high temperatures.

As the school explains, the aim is not simply to deliver a week of activities, but to make environmental education a longer-term commitment using iLearnabout. Teachers plan to build on the assemblies with practical learning activities, student reflection and feedback, helping them understand what pupils have learned and how they can share climate messages with their families and wider community.

The school welcomed the opportunity to connect its local efforts with an international educational platform, taking students’ learning beyond the classroom and giving their work a global dimension.

At iLearnabout, we believe that accessible, engaging environmental education can help young people understand the challenges facing our planet and inspire them to take positive action. While our resources were designed with African learners in mind, this initiative shows how they can support environmental awareness in other communities facing similar challenges.

As the school’s message of the day put it:

“Small actions today protect our tomorrow.”
