Powering conservation
education

The iLearnabout education platform

iLearnabout is building a suite of free, on-line and downloadable environmental education resources designed specifically for teachers and children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Working with conservation organisations and after-school clubs, and guided by national curricula and the Sustainable Development Goals, iLearnabout has developed a framework of topic packs which explore key global and local environmental conservation issues.

Action

Real-life, practical project challenges guide learners to put ideas into action and build skills and competencies for the future.

Digital topic packs

A choice of 24 topic packs from 6 themes allows organisations and teachers to pick the topics they need to suit their learners and their context, using 3 or 4 modules in each topic, including practical activities. All 74 modules are aimed at improving awareness and understanding of environmental conservation and climate sustainable development issues.

Topics available now are: Biodiversity, Climate Change, Soil, Wildlife Conservation, Humans and Wildlife, Forests, Using Money, Saving Money, Growing your Money and Water and Livelihoods.

Cost effective

iLearnabout resources are available for FREE across Sub Saharan Africa resulting in huge cost savings for organisations and freeing up scarce resources:

  • one comprehensive digital resource costs significantly less than multiple, local projects

  • digital resources can be used an unlimited number of times from just one download

  • no expensive and environmentally unsound printing or other hard-copy materials

  • updates can be made easily and economically

We are experienced in providing digital solutions for learning contexts which may have limited resources, internet connectivity and electricity supplies:

  • available on our online platform and downloadable for use offline

  • can be shown via phone, tablet, computer or projector

  • solar charged devices can be used where needed

  • teachers and organisations fully supported by facilitator guides and training workshops if required and the iLearnabout online club

1. Data Dashboard

Our built-in Data Dashboard gives  organisations real-time insight into how iLearnabout resources are being used.

Track key metrics such as:

  • Resource uptake and content downloads

  • Usage by date, account ID, device, or topic

Gain a clear picture of engagement and impact - all in one place.

Measurable

When required, we can make it simple for partners to track impact and learning progress with two free, optional, and easy-to-use performance tools.

2. Plickers Assessment Tool

For classroom assessment, the Plickers digital tool works seamlessly with the iLearnabout Assessment Pack. Teachers can assess an entire class in minutes using a free smartphone app and printed codes :

  • Instant collection of class and individual data

  • Automatic generation of reports and scoresheets

  • Saves teacher time and ensures accurate results

Both tools are designed to make monitoring and evaluation effortless while supporting meaningful learning outcomes.

Contact kaysmith@ilearnabout.org to find out more about measuring performance .

Organisations are rolling-out iLearnabout as part of their extracurricular activities in schools in Kenya, Malawi, Namibia and Zambia. Schools in Nepal are also using iLearnabout with great success, as there is no suitable regional alternative.

We hope you join them!
